Thanksgiving is just weeks away and People to People is focused on assuring that Rockland’s struggling families have turkeys to put on their tables on Thanksgiving Day. Last year, People to People distributed more than 1,500 turkeys and all the fixings to struggling Rocklanders so they could enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.

We’re going to need your help to make sure that all of our neighbors in need can celebrate Thanksgiving with a turkey and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving feast.

This year is especially challenging for so many Rockland families. The COVID-19 crisis has resulted in job losses, increased medical expenses and the continuing challenges of remote learning. Now, more than ever, PtoP is looking to the our community to help us help our neighbors in need.

How You Can Help

Make a financial donation to provide PtoP with the funds to provide a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner.

Folks can make a contribution that will help PtoP purchase turkeys and other Thanksgiving food items.

A donation of $40 will provide a Thanksgiving feast for a family of four.

Checks made out to People to People can also be mailed to us at 121 West Nyack Road, Nanuet, NY, 10954.

Donate the “free” turkey they’ve earned through a supermarket promotion to People to People if they don’t plan to use
it themselves.

Purchase a few extra Thanksgiving food items when shopping for their own Thanksgiving dinner and donate them to People to People.

Items needed include:

Frozen turkeys, potatoes (instant or fresh) and sweet potatoes or yams (canned or fresh), stuffing (boxed or bagged), canned corn, string beans and peas, cranberry sauce and turkey gravy, pie crust mix and fillings.

Food donations can be dropped off at PtoP’s Food Pantry at 121 West Nyack Road in Nanuet.

Food donations are accepted at the REAR entrance of PtoP by the loading dock door.

Volunteer at People to People. During this very busy time of year, we need help in our pantry to distribute food to clients as well as stock shelves, accept food donations and help clean up.

This can be done as a group or individually and there are volunteer opportunities for those who would like to make a regular commitment.

Please ask anyone interested in volunteering to contact PtoP Volunteer Coordinator Sharon E. Mellis at 845-623-4900 , ext. 213 or at sharon@peopletopeopleinc.org.

Thank you so much for your organization’s continued support of People to People. I am hopeful you can assist us again this year.

If you have questions about Talk Turkey, please contact me at 845-623-4900, ext. 207 or at diane@peopletopeopleinc.org.

Let our hearts be full of thanks and giving this holiday season.
