Feeding Rockland’s Hungry
As Rockland County residents face unexpected life-changing situations, People to People is an ever-more vital community resource, never turning away someone in need. More than 30,000 people face food insecurity in our community. Currently, the People to People Food Pantry provides nearly 14,000 of them with monthly food packages. There is still so much more to do and we need your help to do it.
Help Us Improve Our Food Pantry
Increase Warehouse Space…The reconfiguration of the current food warehouse space and the installation of a mesh mezzanine will increase the Food Pantry space by more than 40%.
Increase Cold Storage Space…Additional walk-in refrigerators and freezers will increase capacity to accept donations of perishable food items including fresh fruits and vegetables.
Increase Client Services Areas…By moving the administrative offices to the second floor, the first floor client services spaces can now be increased and upgraded. These include interview rooms where clients meet with staff who determine financial need, provide referral information to other agencies, support services and more.
Help Us Improve Your Neighbors’ Lives
Feeding Rockland’s hungry is People to People’s primary responsibility but not its only one. Through its Back to School with Dignity program, People to People provides backpacks filled with grade-appropriate school supplies to the children of our low-income and no-income clients so these kids can start school with the tools they need to be successful. The People to People Clothes Closet provides gently-used clothing for infants, children and adults. The Talk Turkey effort provides PtoP clients with a turkey and all the fixings for a traditional Thanksgiving Dinner. Through Project Joy, donors “adopt” families to provide holiday gifts for clients’ children.
Improve Clothing Distribution Area…Donations of gently-used clothing continue to increase but People to People’s space to sort and distribute them is limited. The expansion will provide additional space for the Clothing Room.
Improve Program Services Areas…A new and larger conference room will make it possible to offer informational workshops and instructional classes to our clients in an effort to provide them with the tools they need to help break the cycle of poverty.
Improve Reception Areas…A reconfigured and enhanced reception area will provide clients and visitors with a more comfortable experience. Additional display space will provide for increased utilization of public information and referral materials.
